'Lessons Learned' are probably the best means for understanding how to prepare for and avoid potentially dangerous situations on the water. The National Transportation Safety Board has just released the Safer Seas Digest, a summary of lessons learned from marine accident investigations in 2017. While we are mostly recreational boaters, the information demonstrates that even professional mariners make mistakes, all accidents are avoidable, and many of these lessons are directly applicable to our style of boating.
Members of the Cuyahoga River Safety Task Force share important safety information about operating paddle craft on the Cuyahoga River in downtown Cleveland in this video released May 5, 2017.
